B.T.L./B.E.L. Nationalization Matter Continues Before CCJ
Arguments continued today at the Caribbean Court of Justice in Port of Spain where Dean Boyce, the B.T.L. Employees Trust, British Caribbean Bank and Fortis are challenging the government acquisition of the Belize Telemedia and B.E.L. On Wednesday afternoon Attorney Eamon Courtenay presented on behalf of Fortis. Today, Denys Barrow for G.O.B. replied to the submissions of Boyce and B.T.L. Employees Trust, British Caribbean Bank and Fortis. Queen’s Counsel Ed Fitzgerald QC for Fortis further replied to the Government’s case. Courtenay will reply to the Government on Friday on behalf of British Caribbean Bank as well as Lord Goldsmith QC who will reply to the Government on behalf of Dean Boyce and the B.T.L. Employees Trust. The hearing is expected to conclude on Friday. A decision in this case is not expected until sometime next year.
