Sacked U.N. Ambassador is new Chief Elections Officer
Belize has a new Chief Elections Officer. He is Stuart Leslie. Leslie has previously served as our Ambassador to the United Nations in New York, but was abruptly fired from that post on May tenth. He was sworn in this morning at the Elections and Boundaries Department in Belize City and officially begins work on Monday. His predecessor, Myrtle Palacio, moves on to become Director of the Office of Governance. That newly created office encompasses the old Governance Unit in the Ministry of National Development as well as some functions of the now defunct Ministry of Public Service.
