HMS Cumberland will anchor off Belize City
While the cruise ship industry has all but washed away the impressive awe of large vessels steaming into Belizean waters, on Thursday a British warship on the horizon should still be an imposing sight. The HMS Cumberland will arrive on the eighth of September for a two-day visit in Belize, anchoring near English Caye. While here, Captain Simon Ancona and crew will host a reception for local dignitaries as well as a tour for the press and a party for deserving children. According to the British Government, the HMS Cumberland will be sailing throughout the Caribbean over the next four months, conducting humanitarian aid and disaster relief assistance and counter-narcotics operations. The four thousand ton vessel is the sixteenth Royal Navy warship to carry the name HMS Cumberland.
