Horse expires following buggy ride
Today a budding business in the tourism industry suffered a serious blow when a key employee collapsed and died. That worker was a horse belonging to Gabourel’s Horse and Buggy Rides. Sources tell News Five that for some time now the animal named “Can’t Touch This,” had problems breathing and on many occasions was taken to the vet clinic for care, but it is not clear if the horse was ever diagnosed with a particular condition. According to our source, the horse, worth approximately three thousand dollars, had just finished a tour and was taken to an abandoned lot on Baymen Avenue to graze. But according to people in the area, the animal started to foam from its mouth and collapsed on the grass. News Five tried reaching its owner for comment, but we were unable to contact Desho Gabourel. On numerous occasions the Belize Humane Society has expressed concern over the conditions under which the horses drawing tourist buggies must operate, particularly on hot days.
