Businessman offers reward re: mysterious bush fire
A Belize City businessman has posted a thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of three suspected arsonists who hit his property last night. According to Archie Lee, sketchy eyewitness reports indicate that sometime after dark last night, three men alighted from a white vehicle and set several piles of bush on fire at a site owned by Lee at mile two on the Northern Highway. Lee says work crews had been on his property during the day cleaning, chopping, and gathering the rubbish into several mounds which were to be taken away today. There is no obvious explanation why arsonists would set fire to piles of bush, but that doesn’t make Lee feel any better. He told News Five this morning that he has offered the money out of concern that businesses in the area–namely Shell and Travellers–could have been put at risk if the fire had gotten out of hand. If you have any information that leads to the identification and arrest of the perpetrators involved, please contact Archie Lee at Archie’s on Central American Boulevard in Belize City.
