Mechanic Alleges Assault by Special Constable

A mechanic in Southern Belize is claiming that a special constable has been wrecking havoc in the south, but no one seems to care. Vincent Scott says that he was punched in the head by the officer in August of 2014 in Mango Creek and after all the procedures to report and follow through with his case, the special constable was acquitted last week. Scott stopped by News Five today and he says that his report of the Special Constable isn’t an isolated case, but more so he felt that system failed him.

Vincent Scott, Claims Unfair Treatment

“He punched me inna my head in front of the police at Santa Cruz Police station. I meet this guy I know as Cones and he just push me around and tell me mek I come back. He never tek any statement from me, and so I return the following day and the guy, SC Romero was there and Cones ask me that we talk it over and move on from it, but I tell he that I neva want that. I wanted to make a report.”

“So, Independence Police never dealt with it and you took it to Internal Affairs in Belmopan?”

Vincent Scott

“Yeah, well the case try. We gone dah court. The police come and testify because he was right there when this guy punched me and even the Internal Affairs testify. The Magistrate told me that we have to come back a week later because she mi need fi si what dah the meaning of  ‘common assault.’ She say it wah tek like a week so we had to come back the following week which was the 23rd. The guy win the case. After I contact the Internal Affairs, they came out and talk to a number of people. This guy push deh head inna toilet. He beat up people.
