Southern Ops Yield Drugs
In the south on Saturday night, a joint operation conducted by uniformed Police Officers and Special Branch Personnel from Placencia in Seine Bight Village led to the discovery of drugs in that southern village. Based on Placencia Special Branch intelligence, a passenger bus was searched around seven-thirty p.m. and inside a black Safari Express knapsack tucked between the legs of a female, approximately ten ounces of suspected cannabis was found. The green leafy substance was found inside a black plastic bag which was opened in the presence of twenty-one year olds, Sharette McLaughlin and Akeem Vargas. Both persons were informed of the offence committed, cautioned and escorted to the Placencia Police station where the substance was weighed. McLaughlin and Vargas of Seine Bight and Dangriga respectively, were charged for “Drug Trafficking.”
