Musical Instruments for Salvation Army

Salvation Army Primary School showed off this morning some shiny, new music instruments that they were able to purchase courtesy of Atlantic Bank International Limited. Among the musicals pieces from the donation were trumpets, baritones, tambourines and drums. It is the second installment of music instruments to the school; the first was procured last year. Major Henry King, Salvation Army Primary School Chaplin, says that a school that for a school that has a rich music tradition, the donation is welcomed.

“We are extremely thankful to Atlantic Bank for giving us, well a continued donation. Previously they gave us a donation where we purchased some instruments and earlier last year they gave us another donation where we were able to purchase some more instruments. Total together in the two installments the cheques were totaled at eight thousand eight hundred.”

“So what are some of the occasions that the students use these pieces for?”

“Oh, definitely for Harvest Festival. We usually have a march from the battlefield park to the school and on any other occasions such as youth councils when youth of the Salvation Army are gathered together, so we definitely have the instruments and drums going and playing.”

“How excited are the students to get these new pieces?”

Major Henry King

“Oh! They are extremely excited. As a matter of fact, we had fifty children for eleven instruments so you know what that did cause. Generally, the idea is to look at them to see the gifts and talents that they have because this is something, when music is being taught to you, teacher can’t take it back. You have that for the rest of your life. So when we teach the students we are looking forward to them to continue be creative and use such talents. I know right now the BDF and upcoming Police band is need of persons who can play an instrument so if our children can help in that area that would be good.”
