Corrupt Cops Caught on Camera Settle Out of Court

There is another settlement out of court to report tonight. It involves three police officers who, back in September 2013, were accused of stealing money from businessman, twenty-two year old Thyrell Hyde.  Hyde was taken to Atlantic Bank and used his ATM card to withdraw the cash.  The incident was caught on the Bank’s surveillance camera and released to the media. The trio is Corporal Reymundo Requeña, Special Constable Joslyn Gill and Corporal Edgar Teul.  But they won’t have to face trial because since December 2014 they have been negotiating an out of court settlement with Hyde. The court was so informed today and Magistrate Dale Cayetano struck out the case.  Outside the court room, Hyde’s mother, Kayla Nunez, did not wish to elaborate on the settlement only saying that her son’s life had been threatened.   PC Teul was represented by Attorney, Hubert Elrington while Attorney, Ellis Arnold represented Gill and Requena was unrepresented.  On September eighth, 2013, the shake down by the cops of Hyde was captured on camera when he was seen withdrawing money from his account.  Hyde took his case to the office of the Ombudsman since months went by and the cops had not been charged. It was not until December 2013 that the officers were brought to court and charged jointly with theft.

Wow…you would think the news would report if these bums are still officers.

  2. Nesher says:

I wonder if the “Responsible Media”(and i use that term loosely) will do a follow up on whether the Police Disciplinary Board will do anything to this fools or just brush it off like majority of this cases

Like I said earlier everyone in Belize is a gangster!

    Sad; really sad!

The police should not tolerate these renegades in the ranks because of their ill repute the entire police force will not be respected by the public.
