Special Constable Charged for Wounding
Also in court today, Special Constable Juan Moralez was hit with a single charge of wounding when he appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano. Moralez pleaded not guilty to the charge; he was offered and met bail of one thousand dollars and a surety of the same amount. The charge follows a domestic dispute over this weekend in which twenty-nine year old Moralez allegedly injured his wife, Betzabe Moralez. On Sunday, Betzabe claimed that she went to their house in Belama to remove her personal belongings under police escort. She claimed that as police officers waited outside, Moralez pulled out a knife at her when she tried to exit the house. As a result, she was cut on the lower left arm. In her police report, Betzabe alleged that recently she has had several altercations with her husband including an incident at the end of January when he assaulted her. Moralez is due back in court on March second.
