Will Santi and Darrell Duel for Caribbean Shores?
There is no love lost between Caribbean Shores Area Representative Santiago ‘Santi’ Castillo and Mayor Darrell Bradley. Bradley has made no secret of the fact that he wants in on the division, and he’s not going to be deterred. At one point it seemed that Castillo, after only one term, would be willing to make way for Bradley and go quietly into that goodnight. But all that changed when it is reported that Bradley got a spot in the Prime Minister’s black books. Now Castillo is back on centre stage and seems ready to take on any and all comers from within his party. News Five caught up to the flamboyant businessman turned politician over the weekend at an event where he threw down the political gauntlet.
Santiago ‘Santino’ Castillo, Area Representative, Caribbean Shores
“Don’t listen to anyone that tells you that I will not be running again. That is what some of them wish. In fact join me and let’s continue the journey in 2015, 2016, 2017 and beyond. Together let’s ensure a brighter future for all residents of Caribbean Shores. Anybody that wants to come to Caribbean Shores will have to come through me.”

“What is your relationship with Mayor Darrell Bradley?”
Santiago ‘Santino’ Castillo
“I have no relationship with Darrell Bradley, neither good nor bad. I barely speak to him any at all. We have no need to communicate really. It’s been far and in between that we communicate. I think Mayor Bradley has done a good job in Belize City with the City Council and my personal take on it is that he should stay and finish the work for the next term. I personally plan to remain in Caribbean Shores. I have the full support and backing of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet and as I said anybody including Mayor Darrell Bradley that wants to come to Caribbean Shores will have to come through me in a convention. The Prime Minister is not only the Prime Minister and my boss but my substantive minister, so I will take his advice in every way. I had told him that the last thing I would want would be bloodshed in Caribbean Shores, so I wouldn’t mind being the bigger person and stepping down and going back to Santiago Castillo. After checking with my captains and the residents of Caribbean Shores I told him that the take was that they wanted me to stay and he told me by all means if that is what I want he would support me. And that’s the story right there.”

“Is there any point at which his support had switched over to Mayor Darrell Bradley to run in this area?”
Santiago ‘Santino’ Castillo
“Never.”
