Belize City Men Freed on Attempted Murder Charge
Two Belize City men, Albert Clother and Tareef Westby, were freed of attempted murder after Samuel Halliday, who is currently incarcerated, decided he wanted no further court action. The matters of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm along with conspiracy to commit murder, for which Clother and Westby were charged with, were scheduled to go to Preliminary Inquiry. But because Halliday didn’t want to pursue it further in court, Prosecutor Inspector Hector Rodriguez entered no further evidence against the two accused, and Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser struck out the matter against them. It’s alleged that two gunmen ambushed Halliday on the evening of Friday, March twenty second, 2013, at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Vernon Street. The gunmen fired five shots in Halliday’s direction, and one of the shots caught him in the lower back.
