B.T.L. Park Turns One
There is another activity to look forward to this weekend as the B.T.L. Park celebrates its one-year anniversary since it was renovated by the Belize City Council. The recreational space has been used for everything, from concerts to fitness training, and has been the venue of choice for families on weekends. To commemorate the event a mega concert featuring a lineup of Belizean artists only has been planned for the evening. On Friday, fans of TR Shine, Nello Player, Youth Connection Band and Eljai are invited to bring in Valentine’s Day with their loved ones to the music of their favorite local acts.
Kenny Morgan, Public Relations Officer, Belize City
“It’s our first celebration, first celebration of BTL Park’s first anniversary and in keeping with what we have been doing with regards to the park and bringing people back to the parks, trying to revitalize the parks and get Belizeans to start utilizing the parks again the way we used to we are hosting a mega concert, a super event and this is an all Belizean lineup that we are very proud to say we have put together bringing very talented Belizeans from international arenas, as well as our local stars and it promises to be a big event. We have all the local stars that we could get on the ground. We TR Shine, Tricia Gabourel, we have Nello Player and his band the Verge of Umbra, all our artists will be there performing backed up by the fabulous Sugar City’s finest Youth Connection [Band]. And, of course, our headliner is none other than Eljai, who over the past couple of years his music has been growing by leaps and bounds and has been receiving enormous acceptance from the Belizean public.”
Eljai, Performing Artist
“Eljai is very charismatic, you know what I mean, I sing a lot of love songs for the ladies, you know. I have a lot of spiritual music too, enlightened music so [it’s going to be] an energetic show, you know what I mean. As I said, love songs for the ladies so ladies come on and enjoy yourselves.”
Isani Cayetano
“Now you’re one of Belize’s many musical ambassadors but in your specific genre you’re promoting reggae music if I’m not mistaken. Talk to us a bit about being able to continuously put Belize on the map in terms of the music that you produce and the music that you’re promoting.”
Eljai
“Well reggae music, I use reggae music, I do R&B too also but reggae music is a powerful vehicle, it’s very, very powerful and the message that I have, you know what I mean. I try to uplift people through the music and reggae is a vehicle in which you can use that type of element and bring people together as one. So you know, reggae is always a strong thing.”
The concert which is free of cost begins at six o’clock.
