Taiwan Host Cultural Festival
The Embassy of the Republic of China/Taiwan has been successfully promoting the cultural exchange between Belize and Taiwan for many years. In an effort to continue to educate locals about the culture, the embassy is hosting the 2015 Taiwan Cultural Festival in Belize. The activities, which are open to the public and are free admission, will kick off with an opening reception on Friday at the Bliss Center. Ambassador Ho say tells us more about the event.
Benjamin Ho, Taiwanese Ambassador to Belize
“This cultural festival- we are showcasing three parts. The first part is the art exhibition that we are featuring thirty eight traditional Chinese painting art that we brought from Taiwan. The second part is the screening of a movie; we are going to show two movies. Tomorrow evening we are going to show a short one that will take about forty minutes about Taiwanese cuisines. On Saturday, we are going to show another longer movie and will also be about Taiwanese food, particularly about a moveable feast. We are doing it to help to understand and appreciate not just Chinese painting, but also Taiwanese food.”
Andrea Polanco
“So it’s going to be a bit of culture and also fun?”
Benjamin Ho
“Right. We are trying to make it entertaining and more cultural and educational for your people. I think this is a best way to create more understanding between our two cultures and two peoples.”
The Embassy, along with members of the Taiwanese community in Belize, will be hosting a Taiwanese Food Fair on Saturday, March seventh at ten in the morning at the Memorial Park in Belize City.
