SICB Says Move Is a Bad One

Gabriel Martinez

With all that said, the B.S.C.F.A.’s Committee of Management isn’t budging, and has written to the subscribers of the new company to back off. The Prime Minister has announced his intent to seek the decertification of the newly registered company and the SICB…well, the SICB maintains that it is the only body that can register associations and they have done so.

Gabriel Martinez, Chairman, Sugar Industry Control Board

“After the amendment of the Sugar Act 2015, the SICB became the legal body, the body authorized to register associations. We received requests from three associations, and after we got the requests and their bylaws, the SICB issued certificates of registration which, as mandated by the Sugar Act 2015, is the legal entity to carry on registrations. We have just gotten out of difficulties, especially with the B.S.C.F.A., and I think the terrain, the environment is not that healthy nor strong to be dealing with issues, sensitive issues as it pertains to other persons trying to do other things which are not conducive to the health of the industry, so we are very much concerned about it.”

The current Council of Management has called a general assembly meeting for February twenty-second, and that should be a very interesting one.

This government has to gone, it is not doing anything for the farmers. People if you all notice, the SICB is the only body responsible for registering associations and it lead by the majority being UDPs. Government still continues to stuck his nose where they don’t have any business to deal with. watch the sugar roads, Dean Barrow promise not less that 2 million dollars will be used for the repairing of sugar roads; in my location not a single sugar road has been fixed. but here this, the government is receiving $7 Belize per every ton of sugar sold to the outside market, just for allowing that sugar to go out, but still can not fix our sugar roads. Many people dont know the in and out of this industry, many people just say thing because they heard from someone. let be real, Dean Barrow and his government are good for nothing.
