Case of 11-year-old alleged kidnapper moved to Family Court
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Kirk Anderson, today issued a memo ordering the withdrawal of a kidnapping charge against an eleven-year-old girl, substituting the crime of abetment to kidnapping. The case will now be heard in Family Court instead of Magistrate’s Court. The kidnapping charge against a thirteen-year-old girl in connection with the same incident, however, still stands. The case is a complex one and involves accusations by the two girls that two older boys abducted and raped them back in April. When the girls told their parents, the adults proceeded to kidnap the boys and drive them to Burrell Boom where they were severely beaten. The boys were then turned over to police but in the end, following investigations, the D.P.P. brought charges against the parents and the two girls, not the two boys.
