Lucilo Teck Disappointed in Outcome

Lucilo Teck

Lucilo Teck, a canero himself, initiated the legal process by seeking from Matura-Shepherd and proceeding with the suit.  He expressed disappointment with the outcome of the case.

Lucilo Teck, Claimant

“I cannot go against the ruling of the court.  I support the court’s decision and it must be fair for the court to take that decision.  On my part, I am not satisfied by the court’s decision simply because I hoped that through the court my application to be heard in the court the whole issue that had been publicly and in the court ventilated, you know.  Our concern was that never in the history of Belize had we been forced to sign an agreement against our will.  It was made publicly through the media, both by the government and us, both by ASR/B.S.I. that the farmers do not sign that agreement which is against our interest [and] there would be no crop.  That is the reason why we came to the court, requested a mandamus but up to today, the twenty-third, that the case is being heard.  Farmers couldn’t resist the economic situation and they had to surrender, they surrendered their rights to sign that agreement that was rejected.”

Attorneys for government and B.S.I. have indicated that the matter, on their end, has formally concluded.

  1. Teddy Steinway says:

The incompetent leaders of BSCFA are to blame. They lived off the fat of the farmers. This farmer is part of the old school. Good riddance!
