Kareem Eagan Detained for Questioning in Deadly Shooting
Thirty-two-year-old Kareem Eagan, who is a person of interest in this morning’s bloodbath, was shot in the right foot in San Pedrito on February second, as he sat inside his apartment. He told police on the island that he was assaulted by a pair of young men dressed in dark clothing and hooded jackets. The minors allegedly ran into the yard that night and opened fire on Eagan, hitting him once above the ankle. Eagan, an alleged drug dealer in San Pedro Town, has reportedly been embroiled in a bitter feud with the Espats. On January fourteenth, police responded to a report of eight gunshots and visited Lopez’s Apartments where they spoke with the landlord who informed that sometime around eleven p.m. he heard a total of nine shots fired near the building. Further investigation revealed that the gunmen visited the apartment unit occupied by Eagan where they let loose the barrage. Eagan, however, was nowhere to be found at the time of the shooting. This afternoon, Superintendent Luis Castellanos gave us an update.

“As it relates to Eagan’s case, if you all recall, I don’t know if I mentioned it to the media but in Eagan’s case we, at first we thought that Eagan was a problem with the Espats, so what I did, I applied to the court for an anti-social order and the court granted us that order and as a result of that court order that we received from the court, Mr. Eagan was asked to remove himself from that location, to relocate to another location and he was prohibited from entering at least five hundred feet from the Espat’s residence because at first we thought that because maybe it was a turf war or they had some differences and as such we applied that order and so we had thought that by doing that then the situation would have quelled down but apparently it did not quell down.”
