Running of stop sign results in collision
In the end, the only damage resulting from a downtown traffic accident this afternoon was to the vehicles. But it could have been much worse.

Forty-six year old taxi driver Charles Perez appeared to be shaken shortly after he crashed into another cab driven by thirty-seven year old Collet Maskall. Perez says there was nothing he could have done to avoid the crash as the other vehicle ran the stop sign at the corner of King Street and East Collet Canal.
Charles Perez, Taxi Driver
?I just see this vehicle just zoom in front of me, I couldn?t even?before I could even brake, I had already hit him. But what makes me frighten more is that his vehicle flipped over and I thought somebody was dead. That?s what has me shaken up. Then he doesn?t have no insurance and his licence is expired, so who is going to fix my vehicle, and that?s what I use to make my daily bread.?
Maskall claims the vehicle experienced mechanical problems just as he pulled up at the stop sign.
Collet Maskall, Driver
?I di come this way and when I mash the brakes, no brakes noh grab and I just di try come cross because I just di tell my brother, no brakes, no brakes. And I di try pull on the side and the same time the vehicle coming from soh, I deh at the stop line, but that?s where I business fi stop, but my brakes gone in on me.?
Charles Perez, Taxi Driver
?My vehicle is badly damaged because the whole of the front is totally bent.?
Meanwhile, area residents say this pickup truck parked at the corner of the intersection has contributed to several accidents and near misses because it blocks the view of the incoming traffic on King Street. Following the crash, Maskall was taken by police for further questioning.
So far no charges have been filed against Collet Maskall.
