Belmopan mayor says he won?t run again

While Mayor Anthony Chanona was helping to salute U.B. and Belmopan today, he also confirmed to News Five that he will not run for mayor of Belmopan again. But has he decided to quit politics entirely? Doubtful.

?I have decided not to contest a third term in municipal office… public life is a challenge. It?s no ordinary job. I think it?s one of the most fulfilling jobs I have ever had, but there comes a time when you need to also invest similar effort in your family, in your business, and I need a little sabbatical. 2008 is still a little way off, I don?t know what God has in store for my life or my talents, but I?ll be taking a little sabbatical.?

Mayor Chanona will be making a public statement on his decision Tuesday afternoon in Belmopan.
