Lake I pageant helps kids with school fees

Story PictureIt may not have the cachet of Rossy War at the Princess or the practicality of the car show at Old Belize… but if you and the family attend this event, one thing is certain: by the time the curtain closes you will know that you have helped a child get an education. I am talking about the Little Miss Lake I pageant scheduled for Saturday night. The seven contestants, age eight to twelve, are not only entering the contest for fun, but are helping children like themselves in the Lake Independence area to raise money to attend school. Pageant coordinator Stephanie Gray explains.

?To raise funds to send children back to school because Lake I has a lot of poverty, so we want to decrease poverty in our community.?

The Little Miss Lake I Pageant takes place this Saturday at the Lake I Community Centre. The contest starts at seven p.m. sharp. Tickets can be bought at the door for three dollars adults and one dollar for children.
