Police look closely at Heineken heist

Today Belize City police are investigating a report made by a deliveryman who claims he was held up and robbed of several thousand dollars. The incident occurred around eleven-thirty on Wednesday morning just in front of Tommy’s Store on Central American Boulevard. According to twenty-nine year old Kenrick DeShield, an employee of Karl H. Menzies, he went by the establishment to deliver a hundred cases of Heineken beer. DeShield says he had already handed over the purchase and was paid eight thousand, one hundred and fifty dollars, when as he walked out of the business place, a man approached him, pulled out a black handgun and placed the weapon to the side of his temple, telling him to quote “drop what you have.” It is not certain if DeShield hesitated to respond, but he told authorities the man then fired a shot… which fortunately went astray. That is when DeShield says he handed over the cash and the robber quickly departed. Police say they have no suspects, but are concerned about certain details in the story and are investigating the incident from all angles.
