Espat Requests Public Apology
Relations between former Party Leader, John Briceño, and current P.U.P. Deputy Leader, Julius Espat, remain tense following the release of the clandestine recording on Tuesday. Briceño levied serious allegations against his former advisor Espat and Espat is not taking it lightly. The bad blood has made its way to the social media, where it is being most publicly ventilated. Today we asked P.U.P. Leader Francis Fonseca how that’s affecting the just recently announced newly found unity in the P.U.P.
Francis Fonseca, P.U.P. Leader
“I think the deputy party leader, let me say this…that is one of the allegations made on the tape about him using monies given to him for Cayo South. I can categorically say that that is absolutely unfounded and untrue. Yes, he was serving as the national campaign manager, a co-manager. But the reality is that we had very limited resources and there is absolutely no question of him using the party’s resources in Cayo South. Every expenditure that was made by him was approved by me. So that is absolutely unfounded.”
Julius Espat, Deputy Party Leader, P.U.P.
“I served under him from 2009 until 2012. I was his most loyal soldier; I was his treasurer so he knows how I operate, he knows how accountable I am. I requested an apology from him in private and he hasn’t given it to me and therefore I continue requesting an apology. But to me it is over. I have made my statement, I stand for what I believe in and if he doesn’t want to apologize that is a manly decision of his part.”

“Should he be sanctioned by the P.U.P. for the things he said about the party?”
Julius Espat
“Of course, I believe so.”
Reporter
“Suspended?”
Julius Espat
“I don’t know what level, but there should be discipline in our party. And what he has done is against the principles of the P.U.P. and he should be disciplined—one way or the other.”
Mike Rudon
“Sir, but we go back to hours after the party leader called for unity.”
Julius Espat
“I requested from the party leader if I could speak on my own because he personally attacked me and he personally made it public and therefore the party leader gave me permission to defend myself, which I did.”
Mike Rudon
“On Facebook…you told him that you would post on Facebook?”
Julius Espat
“Why do I have to tell him where I will do it? Facebook is a medium; it is the modern world we are in and if we are not here to use modern technology then we are in the dark ages.”
As we’ve mentioned, there is reliable information that Espat has threatened to sue Briceño if he does not receive a public apology.
I agree with Espat, Johnny Briceno owes the party a public apology. The damage that Johnny Briceno has caused to the party cannot be undone, however a public apology will go a long way towards the healing process. Forward ever, backward never. Very unfortunately, thanks to Johnny Briceno’s poor judgment. The PUP and its’ leadership are currently between a rock and a hard place.
Okay this is plain simple. Belizeans look at it carefully.
Fonseca and Espat are both denying the claims made by Briceno. So in other words, they are calling Briceno a liar. So why would you want Briceno as your leader if he’s a liar. think about it.
Bullshit retired CEO! Apologize for what, telling the truth. The damage had been done. The truth alone shall set you free!
Like Bob Marley said, ‘who the cap fits, let them wear it!’
Let us look at it, suppose Briceno is telling the truth. He gave exact historical accounts of things we know did happen. So where is the lie?
Wake up De,”The truth shall make us free”, however according to who’s truth”? Truth according to whom? Truth are like fruit trees and lies.. There are bitter fruit and sweet fruit. Sweet truth and bitter truth. The truth is, Johnny has loose lips and loose lips sinks ships. Fools rush where wise men fear to travel.
The hog weh geh lick wahn bawl!!! Briceno took a beating from the Old Guard, Julius get lick from Briceno, and the PUP get Lick over all….because of Lack of Unity.
