Sergio Martinez Buried As John Doe After Being Hacked to Death in San Victor

Andrew Ramirez

A Mexican national was hacked to death in the Corozal District on March first.  The body of a man identified as Sergio Martinez was discovered in his bungalow with multiple chop wounds to the face and head.  Police have been unable to properly identify the man and he has since been buried as a “John Doe”. The public is being asked to contact Corozal police if they have any information on what may have led to the murder.

“Yes, Andrea, last Sunday some time after one, Corozal police, acting upon information, visited San Victor Village in the Corozal District in a pimento housing they found the body of a male individual. The body had severe injuries to the head area. We tried our best to investigate what circumstances led to his death. We have been having several challenges in the area no eye witness. The person was known as Sergio Martinez in the area and we got in touch with the Mexican authorities to identify the individual, but unfortunately, that identity was not confirmed. As such, last week Friday, the doctor conducted a post mortem on the body. He was later buried as a John Doe. We are still asking anyone with information on the identity of the individual to come forward and contact us. As a matter of fact, we would like the family to know where he buried. We continue to ask the public, especially San Victor, to contact the Corozal police with any information about what caused the death of this person.”

“Superintendent, Corozal Police have been able to determine more or less what age this person was?”

Via Phone: Supt. Andrew Ramirez. OIC Corozal Police

“No. No. But from my observation, because I had seen the body, it would be no less than thirty years of age because it wasn’t an old person.”

Andrea Polanco

“Okay. So this is definitely a murder?”

Via Phone: Supt. Andrew Ramirez. OIC Corozal Police

“Definite, Andrea. The injuries sustained for this individual does not show that it was self inflicted.”
