Mahogany Heights Man Stabbed in the Heart by Scorned Woman
A Mahogany Heights resident is tonight fortunate to be alive after he was stabbed to the chest on Friday afternoon in what has been described as a domestic dispute. Forty-two year old Earlin Butler was stabbed around two p.m. on Friday by a woman, who lives three houses away from his in the village. Just prior to the stabbing, Butler was in engaged in an altercation with the woman, who claims she pulled out a knife and inflicting the stab wound as an act of self-defense. Butler would flee from his attacker seeking help as residents watched the ordeal transpire. An off-duty police officer, who is their neighbor, soon arrived home to call the authorities and assist Butler in getting to a medical facility. Today, he spoke to us from a wheelchair in the hospital.
Voice of: Earlin Butler, Stabbing Victim
“I gone by this young lady house gone get an article of mine that she had, but ih refused to give back. We had a confrontation, the neighbors overheard and they come over. They stopped the confrontation. I realized that I was going to get myself in trouble so I decided to walk out. On walking out, when reaching the street side, this young lady just charged after me with a butcher knife. I spin around just in time to stop her from bringing the knife fully into my chest. We had a small struggle on the street side; I took away the knife and gave it to her brother then realizing that the knife did go deep enough that I was actually hearing like my breath through my chest.”

“Did you two have any conflict prior to this?”
Voice of: Earlin Butler
“Yes, we have had other conflict from time to time. I have known this young lady for basically four years. We were friends. Her mother is my friend. When she needed help, I was the one she would call for help, but unfortunately this happened.”
Sgt. Orlando Cruz, Deputy O.C., Hattieville Police
“Mister Butler is just reporting to us certain information in respect to a friendship situation with Miss Smith. It may have led to some kind of jealous rage that he kinda overreacted in respect to his demeanor with Miss Smith and that probably resulted in certain actions that was done. We are not concretely saying what actually transpired prior to his arrival at Mahogany Heights, but our investigation is revealing that it was some sort of jealous rage by both persons.”
