Fire Guts Allenby Street Property
Eight persons, members of the Herrera family, are without a roof over their heads following a fire that destroyed their house at corner of Allenby Street and East Collet Canal in Belize City. The fire which broke on Wednesday evening reportedly started from a bedroom on the upper flat, but neither the family nor the fire department can say what started it. The lower flat housed a grocery store which fortunately was not affected by the blaze. Fire officials say that they will be commenting on the fire until Friday. Andrea Polanco reports.

The house was engulfed in flames shortly before four-thirty and firemen fully put out the blaze an hour later. They say the fire started from a bedroom in the back of the house. They believe they didn’t have to lose their entire home and their belongings in the fire, had the fire truck had water when it arrived:

Interesting, this man is blaming the police and fire department for him not saving anything in his house that was on fire. Only a fool would want to go into a house that is on fire. I am realizing how much my people do not stop to think anymore.
Of course I would part blame the fire department, how could they not be fully prepared? I bet if it was a house of someone from high structure the fire department would be sued. Yes, it is irresponsible to try save things from a blazing fire but when you do not have anything, the smallest thing you can save is SOMETHING.
