Accused robber jacked the wrong guy
A suspected robber is tonight nursing his wounds and facing some jail time… all because he may have chosen the wrong victim. According to police, shortly after midnight Saturday, thirty-two year old Reynaldo Verde stopped at the corner of Freetown Road and Victoria Street to assist two acquaintances who were having problems with their vehicle. A short time later, two guys on bicycles, armed with a handgun, approached the trio and robbed them of cash and jewellery totalling three thousand, five hundred dollars in value. When the jackers rode off, Verde gave chase. He told police that one of the cyclists began shooting at him, at which point Verde ran the gunman off the road, causing him to suffer a deep cut to his leg. Police investigations later led them to the K.H.M.H. where they discovered a patient with leg wounds that could not be adequately explained. The suspect is under police guard pending charges. Authorities are also looking for a second suspect.
