Dr. Marco Tulio Mendez Faces Additional Charge for Sexual Assault

In February, P.U.P. Orange Walk East Area Representative, Doctor Marco Tulio Mendez, was formally arraigned on six counts of aggravated assault of an indecent nature and common assault in relation to two minors. The politician and paediatrician appeared at the Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court on Monday and the matter was adjourned until August eleventh. But this week there is more bad news for Mendez. News Five was able to confirm that there will be an additional charge levied against Mendez – that of attempted carnal knowledge. The instructions from the D.P.P.’s office, we understand, came after the court had already given Mendez his adjournment date, so the decision was taken to charge him at a later date. We were unable to confirm today whether the police will wait until Mendez returns to court in August to read him that additional charge.
