Matura-Shepherd Says She Doesn’t Want to Replace Davis as Senator
As to the criticism that Matura-Shepherd wants to replace Davis as the union senator, the second vice president had some choice words for those persons.
Audrey Matura-Shepherd, 2nd Vice President, N.T.U.C.B.
“Oh man, those who think so, I hope you are not one of them Daniel…that’s so low. I respect all senators; been there, done that. If I am to take any office, it will not be at that level. Be assure. I am very satisfied with what I am doing; I have no ambition to replace Mister Davis…absolutely none. They can’t offer me that. I want to be in a strategic position where I make a difference and not just be there to sit down and talk. And right now the way the senate is set up is just a rubber stamp. So have no fear about me. Just whoever those critics are—who clearly talk to you a lot—just one message to them. No matter what you say, no matter what you criticize, no matter what angle you come; as long as I am alive and I have a voice, I will speak out. I don’t have to have a position. I was doing it when I didn’t have a position. I can resign from any position I have right now and I will still be me. I will speak against it because that’s how I am. And if I like something, I will speak for it…sadly people only hear when I speak against. You know why? Because many of you out there are cowards. You know you don’t agree but you go along because you are afraid or you are compromised, you are getting from the largesse.”

Mrs Matura claims she respects all senators yet she says they just sit there and talk.. to rubber stamp things… Such an inspirational leader right?
Audrey is right. Too many Belizeans are afraid to speak their minds and in most cases the influencial ones have their hands in the cookie jar. The unions were alll up in arms with the previous government but now that their beloved udp is in………..
