Patron shot in city bar robbery
Belize City police are looking for two men who robbed a bar and wounded one of its patrons. The incident occurred around eight on Sunday morning when the suspects entered the River Bottom Bar on Regent Street West, one armed with a handgun and the other a shotgun. Several persons were in the bar drinking and the intruders proceeded to rob them of their money totalling three hundred and seventeen dollars, and a gold chain valued at one hundred and seventy-five dollars. The robbers then went over to the register and grabbed the cash drawer containing an additional four hundred dollars. The drama escalated when one of the thieves, upon leaving, fired a single shotgun blast that caught one of the club’s patrons, thirty-three year old Romel Megs, in the right arm and calf.
