Fox receives Order of Belize…

Story PictureWhen we last left Mexican President Vicente Fox, he was winging his way east from the new capital to the old. Following a series of meetings and a brief rest he managed to rally for a state dinner in his honour at the Belize City House of Culture. On that occasion he became the sixth person to be conferred with the Order of Belize.

Rene Villanueva, Master of Ceremonies
?The citation for the Order of Belize reads: to all and singular to whom these presents shall come, greetings. His Excellency the Governor General of Belize, the Chancellor of the national honours and awards, has invested and by these presents do invest in his Excellency Vicente Fox Quesada, President of the United Mexican States, the Order of Belize as witness by my signed manual in Belmopan, this twenty-eighth day of June, 2005. Signed, Sir. Colville M. Young, Governor General of Belize.?

Fox is the second Mexican President to receive the Order of Belize. Carlos Salinas had been given the honour during his term in office. Other honourees include Marion Jones, Fidel Castro, Sir Shridath Ramphal, and T.V. Ramos, who was given the award posthumously.
