Honduran Man Charged for Attempted Murder of Security Guard
A Honduran national has been charged for the shooting of a Security Guard working at a Chinese restaurant. After two days of investigations, police believe they know who shot Victor Hendy at the Asia Restaurant located on Vernon Street. Twenty year old Dixon Montero was escorted to the court room of Senior Magistrate, Sharon Fraser and charged for Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm with a Deadly Weapon. On Wednesday, May sixth, 2015, Hendy was on duty when he was shot to the neck just before nine o’clock. Police say Hendy was outside the restaurant when he responded to a call from inside, and that’s when he saw a man with a handgun attempting to rob the business woman. Hendy stepped away from the door and called the police. While doing so, the gunman exited the establishment and fired a single gunshot at him causing his injury. Surveillance cameras at the restaurant recorded the ordeal. It shows two men wearing bucket hats entered the restaurant. Two patrons who were at the counter purchasing food were accosted by one of the men, while the other, wielding a gun, went behind the counter and pointed the firearm at the woman. When she yelled for help, the men retreated empty-handed. The duo then ran out of the store and as they left, the footage captured the gunman firing a single shot at Hendy, who ran towards the Fish Market. The assailants fled toward the direction of Mosul Street. Montero is a resident of Glenn Street, Belize City.
