Finger biting leads to maim charge

A Caye Caulker resident has been remanded to jail after being accused of biting off a piece of another man’s finger. Water taxi employee Marlon Arnold, otherwise known as “Popcorn”, appeared before Magistrate Dorothy Flowers on Wednesday and was charged with maim. He was unable to meet the five thousand dollar bail and was sent to Hattieville prison to await trial on July eleventh. On April first of this year, Amado Watson of Ragamuffin Tours reported to police that he and his girlfriend were attempting to get on a “Triple J” boat when Arnold tried to prevent them from coming aboard. During the struggle, Arnold allegedly bit off a piece of Watson’s right little finger.
