Murder suspect charged after surrender

Story PictureAnother young man from Belize City, wanted on charges of murder and attempted murder in two separate incidents, has been taken into custody. After police put out the word that Edward Barahona was wanted for questioning at a press conference on Monday, the following day he handed himself into San Pedro police. This morning after being transferred to Belize City, Barahona was charged in connection with the death of twenty-five year old David Vasquez and the shooting of twenty-three year old Alvin Cumberbatch. This afternoon head of city C.I.B., Chester Williams, updated the press on the cases against Barahona.

?He is being charged at this time. He has been taken to court, charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of Mr. David Vasquez and he has also been charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, dangerous harm upon Alvin Cumberbatch.?

?Well when we had the press conference on Monday the investigation was still ongoing and we managed to wrap up the investigation yesterday. And at this point in time, since they have been charged, we have sufficient evidence to take the matter to court.?

David Vasquez was laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon in Belize City. According to the Police Department, information from the public proved crucial in their investigation.
