Bank looks for Unsung Heroes
Is there someone in your life who has dedicated his or her time or sacrificed money and resources, just to make things easier for someone who needed help? If you do and you would like to say thanks, then you can submit that special person’s name in the effort to find FirstCaribbean’s Regional Unsung Hero. This afternoon, the Belize branch of the bank announced the local committee of employees who will have the difficult task of choosing this year’s nominees. Country Manager Steve Duncan explained the criteria the committee will be looking for.
Steve Duncan, Country Mgr., FirstCaribbean Intl. Bank
?What they try to do is find, seek out, those people who within the community do a lot of community work, very often using their resources, with no governmental help, etcetera, trying to dig down deep in order to make life better for somebody else other than themselves. So we are looking for those people who give of themselves selflessly as it were, to try to help the community as a whole.?

?Now I know Nurse Juan got the recognition last year and I know this isn?t a competition, but what would it mean for another Belizean to be chosen as the Regional Unsung Hero again??
Steve Duncan
?Yes, you are correct. It?s not a competition in that sense, but to be honest, it honestly makes us feel good and proud when our candidate wins the regional award. And understandably, the award normally comes with quite a bit of money as you know. We want to do it again, let?s put it that way. And we are hoping we can get as many nominations as possible from which we can try to choose the best.?
Nominations will close on July twenty-ninth with local finalists announced in October. The Regional Unsung Hero will be named in November. To make your nomination, write a letter to local coordinator Irene Hernandez at FirstCaribbean International Bank in Belize City.
