Guidelight Productions Organizes Youth Forum
A youth forum will be held on Friday in Belize City, and the organizers want you to attend. The event, which is free, will see the participation of community leaders as well as government representatives. At the helm is non-profit Guidelight Productions and they say that the event will be more than just talk.

“We’d like to include youth leaders from all the districts possible, pretty much you don’t have to be a leader of an organization or no big status. You can be a leader in your community, a church leader, a group leader. As long as you think of yourselves as having leader qualities, you are very welcome to the forum.”

“Will there be any participation with respect to government agencies?”

“Indeed, there will be. We are hoping to have present, some ministers and maybe if we are lucky, even the Prime Minister. But, initially, we would like to have group where they can have two topics, as we are going to be discussing eight topics that are pressing in our country, you know. We are going to discuss this and then they can come up with their opinions on the issues and not only opinions but also come up with solutions to these issues and try to have it presented as we will have moderators there and have an interaction. At the end we would like to pass a declaration for the ministers.”

“Sabreena, talk to us about what are the different topics that will be covered tomorrow?”

“Well, we are actually focusing on the eight pressing issues in our country; these topics will be: health, education, transportation, youth and crime, jobs and entrepreneurship, youth citizen participation and environment and land ownership.”

“So, Sabreena, following the forum, talk to us about what happens next?”
Sabreena Daly
“Well actually, we don’t want anyone to think that this is just a formal event and that they come and get a little fame and things like that. We actually want to see what has been done out of the forum. So, there is going to be a six month time period and we will be checking back with the Ministers and stuff like that to see if anything has actually improved or so with the declaration. We must actually see change, you know, change must be present. So, basically that is what we are hoping for.”
The Youth Forum is supported by Chamberlain Consulting, Belize Kids First Organization, and other corporate sponsors. The event starts at nine at the Gateway Youth Center in the Gwen Liz Compound.
