Fatal accident between motorcycle and B.D.F. truck
Around four this evening a B.D.F. truck filled with people collided with a motorcycle. The result was predictably disastrous, with several dead and others being sent to the hospital for treatment. We caution viewers that the following scenes may be disturbing. Patrick Jones reports.

The carnage on the Western Highway near mile ten has left at least three people dead. Richard Smith, a resident of Roaring Creek was heading home when he came upon the gruesome scene.
Richard Smith, Among the First on the Scene
?We went in; there was police on the scene. There was still guy at the B.D.F. truck that had life still. We noticed the lady was totally damaged. Her head was–there was no chance of life due to the damage that happened. Everybody was calling on the police to please take the guy who was still alive. Apparently the police had no way to, they didn?t know how to do, take care of it–they were waiting for the ambulance. The ambulance take at least thirty minutes or more to get here.?

?As far as we understand, sometime around three-thirty this evening a B.D.F. truck was coming down, was heading towards Belmopan, heading west anyway, and a man on a cycle was heading east, going towards Belize City when something occurred. And it resulted in the cyclist of course being injured fatally, dead on the spot. One female and a child also received fatal injuries.?
Patrick Jones
?How many people were in the B.D.F. truck??
G. Michael Reid
?We understand that there was seven people now being treated at the K.H.M.H., so with the two deceased there seems to have been nine people in the truck.?
The impact of the collision tore the cyclist?s body apart, spreading it several hundred feet across the highway, effectively shutting down traffic. Reid said police are working quickly restore traffic flow.

?Well we?ll take care of that as soon as possible but as you can see it?s a mess. And certainly this is one of those gruesome accidents that no one wants to experience. Our condolences to the families. We know that the family members of the deceased have been informed, so we will be releasing the names shortly.?
Richard Smith
?The B.D.F. truck was on some of the bodies. So couple guys helped to push the truck off to help release some of the guys, some of the bodies that were there.?
Patrick Jones
?This is a pretty horrible accident scene.?
Richard Smith
?Yes it is. It?s a long, if you notice it?s at least a hundred feet that is occupied by pieces of the body and the cycle and the B.D.F. truck. The B.D.F. truck was full of material for kitchen or their supply that they were going somewhere.?
Patrick Jones, for News Five.
Late this evening the K.H.M.H. reported that a total of eleven people were admitted for treatment: ten adults and one child. All are considered to be in stable condition at this time.
