Attorney General says D.F.C. documents will be presented
Within the context of the latest developments of the D.F.C. Commission of Inquiry then, it seems conflicting that at the last Cabinet briefing, on Friday May twenty-seventh, the same morning Gabb was due to produce the documents in question but didn’t, Attorney General Francis Fonseca maintained that the Government of Belize was doing everything in its power to help the commission get its job done.
Francis Fonseca, Attorney General
?I think we?ve all made it very clear; the government has made it very clear. This whole issue of the Government dragging its feet and that sort of thing, I don?t know where that is coming from. We made it clear from the very beginning that we are committed to this process and at every step of the process we have worked very closely with the Commission of Inquiry to facilitate their work, setting up the secretariat, working with D.F.C. As you know, it is the Attorney General?s Ministry which went to court on behalf of the Commission of Inquiry to get this decision. It was our opinion on the matter; we provided a legal opinion to that effect saying that they should produce the documents. But we went to court at the request of the Commission of Inquiry and we have followed that process and we expect that those documents will be produced and those witnesses who have been summoned will appear.?
