Lethal gate is finally repaired
It resulted in the loss of a man’s life on Monday morning. Today, the sliding gate at the Mahogany Street Government Complex that fell on Security Guard Calvin Neal, Sr. was being repaired. In the story we reported on Monday, the deceased’s son mentioned that it had been brought to his attention that the gate had been malfunctioning for quite some time, suggesting that his father’s death could have been avoided. According to a member of a local engineering crew that was making the repairs, the support that was previously on the gate was inadequate to carry its weight. To fix the gate, the crew reinforced the support and also straightened the angle-iron track on which the sliding gate rolls. Up to the time of his death Neal, an employee of K.B.H. Security, had been stationed at the site for almost four years.
