Maurice Felix Wanted for Murder After Receiving Bail on Friday
Belize City police are tonight looking for well known street figure, thirty-year-old Maurice Felix, who was released on bail last Friday after being charged with the attempted murder of two men. He is now wanted for murder two weeks after the shooting. On Monday, May twenty-fifth, Mark Gentle and Calvin Cumberbatch were both seated in front of their home on Caesar Ridge Road when they came under fire from a lone gunman. Both men were injured to various parts of their bodies and while Cumberbatch was treated and released, Gentle remained hospitalized at the K.H.M.H.
In the aftermath of the shooting, police detained Felix and later charged him with attempted murder. He applied for and was granted Supreme Court bail on Friday. Ironically, Gentle would also succumb to his injuries later that night. This evening, Superintendent Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding the Crimes Investigation Branch, confirmed Gentle’s passing and said that police are actively looking for Maurice Felix, who is expected to be charged with murder. On May eleventh, Felix himself was also victim of a near fatal shooting when he and two others were fired upon by an unknown assailant.
