Honduran charged in city rape
There is another report of rape tonight, this time involving a twenty-two year old woman. According to court reports, the victim told the cops that on Saturday night she was partying, along with her sister and her sister’s husband, identified as twenty-six year old Honduran Sandro Rojas of Belize City. But we understand that around ten-thirty, Rojas drove his pregnant wife home and dropped her off so he could go dancing. Alone in the car with her brother-in-law, the young woman alleges Rojas drove them to a dark feeder road off the Western Highway and parked the vehicle. The victim says Rojas then began to profess his love for her and offered to maintain her to the tune of a hundred dollars a week. The young woman says she refused the offer and insisted they return to the city, but instead Rojas reportedly forcefully removed her clothing and raped her. This afternoon Rojas appeared before Magistrate Harrison Hulett and pled not guilty to one charge of rape. He was denied bail and has been remanded to Hattieville prison until his next court appearance scheduled for June eighth.
