Teachers & Public Officers to get 8% Increase in Salaries
Just before six o’clock this evening the government announced that public officers and teachers will receive an eight percent salary increase. The package according to the government release represents about thirty-eight million; it is effective in the July paycheck and retroactive to beginning of the financial year on April first, 2015. The government also says that the increase is separate from the two percent annual increment that public officers and teachers receive based on merit. The salary increase was negotiated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement signed in February of 2014 between the G.O.B. and the unions on behalf of public officers and teachers. Last year, public officers and teachers received a six percent salary increase.
