How Will Consolidated Funds be Divvied Up?
Despite the fact that government intends to merge funds from respective member organizations under APAMO, a comprehensive framework or mechanism remains to be put in place to determine the breakdown and use of the consolidated monies.
Anthony Hislop, Chairman, APAMO
“At the consultation at the Radisson that’s something else that was said, that we were made aware that this hasn’t been completed. Consultation had taken place and I think it was UCN members who were doing that consultation and that didn’t reach to any sensible conclusion. As a matter of fact, it was my opinion and expressed at the Belmopan Convention Hotel when that information came out that it was a waste of money, waste of time for that consultation that came to nothing. And even at the Radisson when we had that last consultation it was said that yes, that’s another step that needs to be taken but legislation is going through and all these pieces of the puzzle haven’t been fitted yet. So that’s a concern again.”
Jose Perez, Executive Director, APAMO
“And just to put things into context, there’s a number of factors which we feel need to be put in place as enabling environment for any reform to happen and occur smoothly. That includes a fee policy and a mechanism which is still incomplete, as far as we know.”
