Two Hospitalized in Separate City Shootings
There was yet another shooting in the city in less than twenty-four hours. Just before nine p.m. on Tuesday night, shots rang out on Old Fabers Road in the Caesar Ridge area. Twenty-eight year old Jamelia Neal is tonight admitted to ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after she was shot multiple times to the arm by a lone gunman. According to reports, Neal was on Fabers Road when a man came up, pointed a firearm at her and pulled the trigger. The gun misfired and Neal reportedly pushed her assailant to the ground and ran away. But as she fled her attacker, several bullets were fired in her direction. She would seek cover at the building of the Yabra Community Policing Unit, but would later realize that she had been shot. Neal was rushed to the K.H.M.H. where she is now in a stable condition. One nine-millimeter expended shell was recovered from the scene and police are looking for one person pending investigation. As we said, this is the second shooting in less than twenty-four hours. The other victim, a fifteen year old student of Canaan High School remains in a critical condition inside the Intensive Care Unit at the K.H.M.H. The second form student was shot around eight-thirty p.m. on Monday as he was walking on Lakeview Street heading to his home on Sibun Street. According to reports, at least two men, one of whom was wearing a “fisherman’s hat,” approached the minor from behind and fired a single shot that caught him on the top of the head. Today, relatives say that he remains comatose and the doctors will continue to monitor his condition. In this shooting incident, three persons have been detained.
