Ford offers conservation grants
If you work in conservation, there is twenty thousand Belize dollars up for grabs in the annual Ford Motor Company Conservation and Environmental Grants. The 2005 edition of the competition was launched this morning during brief ceremonies in Belize City. According to Ford’s regional manager Fabrice Jund, the award is an opportunity for the multi-national company to give back to the community by funding projects that will protect the environment and endangered animals.

?The process is you submit a project and there is an independent jury that will evaluate the project and give the award to the project that is the most interesting.?

?How much money can any one person or group get??
Fabrice Jund
?The total budget is twenty thousand Belize dollars, and there is only one project that is rewarded with the amount of money. We?ve had this for multiple years. It started in Europe and it?s been going on in Europe since 1983 and we have had hundreds of thousands of people that participated in this project. In Central America and the Caribbean it?s also been going on for multiple years and we?ve had a great success with this programme.?
Applications for the 2005 Ford Motor Company Conservation and Environmental Grants are being accepted from now until August twelfth, after which an independent panel will be convened to determine who gets the twenty thousand dollars. The grant winner will be announced during the week of November eleventh.
