San Pedro Transfer Station Inaugurated
The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Belize Waste Management Authority inaugurated the San Pedro Transfer Station. It’s a station that is a part of a solid waste management system that has been rolled out across the country. The project is funded by the IADB, OPEC and G.O.B. Minister of Natural resources Gaspar Vega spoke of the importance of the station at today’s event.
Gaspar Vega, Minister of Natural Resources.
“The Solid Waste Management has successfully delivered on four of its five major outputs. In this regard, the mile 24 regional sanitary landfill located on George Price Highway, the Belize City Transfer Station and the San Ignacio Santa Elena, Benque Viejo Transfer Station has been operational since August 2013. We will now add to these accomplishments the San Pedro station. All indications are that the Caye Caulker Station should be inaugurated sometime next month. I am confident that the outputs and outcomes of this solid waste management project will benefit all of us as it provides a firm foundation for the continuous implementation of best practices in solid waste management especially here in San Pedro. Ultimately, it will contribute to the protection of the public health, the environment, the barrier reef system, and the quality of everyone’s life.”

Great Initiative!!!!! Glad we are serious about improving quality of life in that regard and about keeping our precious reefs healthy!!!!!
