?Belizeans Pray? on Sunday

Story PictureThey have largely been silent on the major issues that are so seriously dividing the country, but on May first, one group of religious leaders is coming out and urging all of us to join them. The event is called Belizeans Pray 2005. Coordinator Margarita Quan says it’s an interdenominational effort designed to offer a divine solution to problems confronting the nation.

Margarita Quan, Coordinator, Belizeans Pray 2005
?A national day of prayer, repentance, healing, and salvation. It?s right on time for all that?s been happening in the country of Belize. It?s like a ray of hope for the Belizeans.?

Patrick Jones
?Why are you putting this together??

Margarita Quan
?Well actually, it?s a direct assignment, a direct commission from the Lord. He wants this country to come back to Him, to repent. He says in his Word that if his people who are called by His name will humble themselves and pray that He will not only forgive their sins but he will heal the land. And that is why I believe that He has called it at this appropriate time, because our land needs a lot of healing.?

Patrick Jones
?Where will this event be held and when I go to it what am I going to find??

Margarita Quan
?It?s going to be at the Marion Jones Sports Complex on Sunday at four p.m. in the afternoon. We have a full programme. We have the heads of the churches of Belize praying and repenting on behalf of the country of Belize. We have the Mayor there; he is doing an opening address. We?ve also invited the Prime Minister and other ministers of government, the Opposition, the unions. We?re inviting everybody to be a part of it, because it?s a problem that affects all of Belize, it?s a Belizean concern and it?s a Belizean thing. So we are expecting that all Belizeans will be out there.?

Belizeans Pray 2005 is open to the general public. And while it’s free, Quan says anyone who wants to contribute financially to help defray transportation costs for people travelling from the districts, can do so at the Scotia Bank, account number 6151441.
