P.U.P. Standard Bearers Call for National Convention
The P.U.P. today released an ad in which John Briceño is heard endorsing Francis Fonseca as party leader. That endorsement took place just before the Dangriga Bye-elections. But things have changed since then and today, a letter signed by twelve standard bearers was delivered to the Party Chairman, Henry Usher. The twelve are calling for three things: first, a national convention which has not been held in five years; restructuring of the party and policies going forward. Leading the group is a triumvirate comprising of Briceño, Dan Silva and Cordel Hyde – all senior members of the P.U.P. Briceño is currently out of town, but earlier today, Silva posted a lengthy message on social media. He notes that it’s been almost five years that the party has had a national convention and that violates the constitution. According to Silva, “The people have been clear every chance they have gotten. They are not impressed with our party; something is not right with us. We are still vulnerable to the labels of the past.”
That is very true. Get “clean’ people to lead the party. The PUP supporters still have in their minds the participation of the secret agreement signed when Francis Fonseca was part of the government , and ,I, am sure he knew about it . What confidence do we have on him now .
Well said Dan!!!! The party leader must accept the change.
