Three attacks leave five injured

Tonight Belize City police are investigating three separate shooting incidents that have left four men hospitalized. According to police, the first shots were fired around eight on Friday night near Pen Road. The victim, sixteen year old Leon Usher, told authorities that he was walking in an alley near Pen Road and Fairweather Street when a man walked up to him, took out a handgun and pulled the trigger. The teenager was injured on the left side of his chest and his left arm. He was rushed to the K.H.M.H. where he underwent surgery and remains admitted to ward in a critical but stable condition. Police say they are seeking one suspect for questioning in connection with this incident.

Meanwhile on Monday night, police say shots rang out around eight-thirty in the vicinity of Albert Street West leaving two men bleeding on the ground. According to twenty-one year old Philip Brannon and twenty-eight year old Kareem Fuller, they were hanging out in the area when a darkly tinted white car pulled up and seconds later, the windows were lowered and the passengers started shooting. Bullets hit both men in their ankles and buttocks.

Approximately three hours later, the silence of Pickstock Street was shattered by gunfire. Police say at approximately eleven forty-five, the victim, twenty-two year old Ordel Duncan, was walking alone through the hutments when he was met by two masked men. One of them pulled out a firearm, took aim, and fired several times. One bullet struck Duncan in his lower abdomen. He was rushed to the K.H.M.H. where he remains in serious condition. One man is behind bars tonight after a drunken brawl in Belize City left another critically injured. According to police, around ten last Friday night twenty-year-old Aquiliano Guevara was socializing at Colours Bar on Newtown Barracks when he and a fellow patron got into a physical altercation. A knife was introduced to the fracas and by the time the police arrived, they found Guevara on the ground, bleeding profusely from the neck. During initial investigations, police tracked down the suspect, identified as eighteen-year-old Antonio Israel Sanchez. We understand that clothing covered in blood, believed to be that of the victim, was discovered at the Sanchez home. As a result, Sanchez has been charged with attempted murder, dangerous harm, and use of deadly means of harm. The victim remains at the K.H.M.H. recovering from his injuries.
