Belizean Artists Take 2015 National Song Competition
The National Song Competition 2015 took place this past Friday at the Memorial Park in Belize City. A total of two juniors, nine Belize Song seniors and seven Carnival song finalists took to the stage after several rounds of eliminations. The national titles were fiercely contested and there were some newcomers that rocked the stage, making their mark on the local music scene. Taking first place in the junior category was Briana Castro’s “Moving Forward;” Wilson Grinage settled for second place one again in the patriotic senior category, while Cecil Jenkins Junior and his song, “Belize Renewed,” came out on top. Newcomer Barbara Herrera’s “Mis Behavin” won the People’s Choice award for the carnival song, but placed second overall in that category; Ernestine Carballo captured the title once again. Here are some of the highlights of the song competition.
